A Tale of Three Bottles

This is a story about glass.

The first thing to know is that what is inside the glass, namely our fabulous liqueurs, is NOT changing. We make them the same way as always, although it is now in Independence rather than Corvallis. Our bottle is changing (twice!) and I thought I would explain why.

For many years, we used the tall, oval bottle known as the St. Louis. It is elegant and was made in the United States – actually near St. Louis. We loved it even though it was a bit hard to label and had to be done by hand. The bottle factory, one of the last of its kind in the US, closed during COVID and the production was shifted to India.  COVID also disrupted logistics worldwide and often resulted in shipping costs that were 2-3X normal or sometimes not even available.

To avoid running out of glass, I purchased a couple of pallets of a somewhat similar oval bottle called the Philadelphia. I made a special label for it commemorating our 10th anniversary. Unfortunately, the Philadelphia did not turn out to be a practical long-term choice for logistical and supplier reasons. Thus, a bottle of Spiritopia Liqueur in a Philadelphia shape is a bit of a collector’s item as it will only be around for a few months. Avid Spiritopia fans might want to keep one as a bud vase or memento.

This brings us to the present and the “new” Jersey bottle. This bottle has been around for a while and is a popular choice for many types of spirits. Our colorful labels give it a distinctive feel and are easy to recognize. The round shape is faster to label and gives us more time to focus on the process and ingredients inside.

It’s been quite a journey. Thanks for taking it with us. We hope to be bringing you our products in this new shape for years to come.
